Philadelphia, PA -- Yesterday of all days, with Wall Street in crisis, John McCain declared that the "fundamentals of the economy are strong" -
demonstrating how out of touch he is with what's going in the lives of ordinary Pennsylvanians. In response, the Obama campaign today released
statements from Pennsylvania leaders as well as a new 30 second TV ad called "Fundamentals."
Governor Ed Rendell made the following statement in reaction to Senator McCain's out of touch assertion: "Senator McCain's failure to recognize
the enormity of the crisis facing the American economy is indicative of how dangerously out of touch his policies are. We don't need a rerun of
the failed economic policies of the last eight years."
Stephanie Naidoff, former Director of Commerce for the City of Philadelphia, founding President of the Kimmel Center and member of the
Pennsylvania Women for Obama steering committee made the following statement in response to McCain: "Are we better off today than we were
eight years ago? Clearly not. John McCain won't change that. He'd bring more of the same. Changing drivers doesn't help if you continue to drive in the same direction."
Barack Obama has been ahead of the curve trying to prevent this crisis, and he's calling for new rules of the road to make sure this doesn't happen again. Today he delivered a speech outlining his plans to revamp our regulatory framework, push back against special interests and grow the American economy. The fundamental differences between Barack Obama and John McCain are clear. John McCain's commitment is more of the same.
The Ad-"Fundamentals"
"Fundamentals" will air in key states beginning today.
