New results from a survey conducted by the free to use wedding speech site http://www.chargeyourglasses.com suggest that a typical wedding party is likely to be a hotbed of secrets and disapproval. The website helps best men, grooms and fathers-of-the-bride compose their wedding speeches. But behind the platitudes and cleverly worded toasts lie a myriad of relationship issues.
Lawrence Bernstein, who runs Charge Your Glasses as well as writing wedding speeches for individual clients, explained:
"The survey results illustrate the stories I hear from so many of my clients. Many best men can't stand the bride, and the less said the better about what many fathers-of-the-bride think about their future son-in-law!"
The survey records the thoughts of the groom, best man and father-of-the-bride in advance of the big day. Many of the findings are astonishing. For instance:
45% of best men could not say for sure that they are the groom's best friend.
50% of fathers-of-the-bride could not say for sure that their future son-in-law would be open and honest with their daughter at all times.
And perhaps most revealingly of all, 33% of grooms cannot be certain that their bride-to-be is actually the love of their life.
Bernstein continued:
"In my experience, grooms, best men and fathers of the bride spend countless hours planning for and worrying about their wedding speeches. This seems to be the one aspect of the wedding they can control. Many are happy to discuss their relationship issues as soon as we sit down to plan their speech."
All three questionnaires are still running and can be accessed at http://www.chargeyourglasses.com
Other results include:
35% of best men wouldn't tell the groom if they didn't like his fiancé.
60% of best men would not want the groom to be marrying their sister.
40% of fathers-of-the-bride believe that their future son-in-law drinks too much.
35% are not confident that their future son-in-law would open the door for his new mother-in-law.
Less than half of grooms are sure how many serious boyfriends their bride-to-be has had in the past.
70% of grooms are not sure when the bride last kissed someone other than him.
