As sports enthusiasts nationwide prepare for the biggest football game of the season, a new national survey from electronics retailer Circuit City confirms that the Super Bowl is the clear favorite among all sporting events on TV.
Ninety-two percent of men and sixty-eight percent of women said they watch sports on television and the Super Bowl was top choice for both men and women.

-- 33 percent of women call the Super Bowl their favorite televised sporting event; the Olympics came in second with women at 17 percent
-- Combining men and women, 41 percent say their top choice is the Super Bowl
The Circuit City survey also indicated that having big screen HDTVs might contribute to certain social behaviors among Americans.
-- 49 percent of men said with a big high-def TV, they'd be most inclined to invite friends over to watch the Super Bowl or other sporting events; 18 percent of men said they'd invite friends over to watch movies
-- 34 percent of women said a big TV would encourage them to invite friends to watch the Super Bowl; 29 percent said they'd invite friends to watch movies
-- Combining men and women, 41 percent said they'd be inclined to invite friends to watch the big game
More than 3,300 men and women participated in the survey, commissioned by Circuit City Stores, Inc, and conducted by independent research firm Decision Analyst, Inc. of Arlington, Texas. The survey's margin of error is plus or minus two percentage points.
