Third Day to Jam With America's Troops on USO Tour to Persian Gulf

GRAMMY-winning and multi-platinum rock band Third Day will soon trek to the Persian Gulf and perform for service members as part of a USO/Army and Air Force Chaplains entertainment tour. On its first USO tour, the five member band will spend quality time with troops, mesmerize military audiences with high-energy performances and express their heartfelt gratitude. The band will also meet and shake hands with deployed military personnel, and share personal stories of life, family and encouragement.

Deemed one of today's most successful rock bands, Third Day has recorded more than 20 no. 1 hit songs, sold more than six million albums and garnered a slew of prestigious awards including three Grammy Awards and 24 Dove Awards. Performing for more than a decade, the group has released a dozen albums, including its most recent project "Chronology Volume 2." The CD/DVD consists of 18 of the band's biggest hits along with live recordings of past tours and exclusive footage chronicling the band's evolution.

"We are grateful for the gift of music and for the opportunity to embark on a USO tour," says Mac Powell, the band's lead singer. "We don't take anything in life for granted -- not our freedom and certainly not our men and women in uniform. We're eager to go and rock out."

Third Day's distinctive sound is embedded with hard rock, gospel, old country and praise and worship influences. Conceived in a garage by high school classmates turned band mates, Mac Powell and Mark Lee, the Atlanta-based rockers are dedicated to writing songs with contemporary, inspirational messages and performing around the globe.

Historically, few events have left a more lasting positive emotional impression on service members and their families than USO entertainment tours. Since the USO's inception in 1941, thousands of celebrities have selflessly lent their time and talents, traveling to military bases around the world to entertain the troops. USO tours are essential to fulfilling the USO's mission of boosting troop morale by bringing them a small piece of home.
