Actor Ernie Hudson’s performance at the 2008 Trumpet Awards, which took place in January, is set to air on broadcast television March 1st with re-airings scheduled for April 13th. On the program, Hudson vocally acts out Scripture selections from Thomas Nelson, Inc.’s newly released The Word of Promise™ New Testament Audio Bible – a scripted dramatization of the New King James Version (NKJV) of the New Testament presented in a compelling, dramatic audio theater format complete with movie-quality sound effects and an original music score. His presentation is accompanied by the music of six-time GRAMMY® nominated singer Melvin Williams. Viewers are encouraged to check their local listings for stations.
The Word of Promise™ New Testament Audio Bible project itself features the talents of actors such as Ernie Hudson (“Ghostbusters,” “Miss Congeniality”), who voices Peter, as well as Jim Caviezel (“The Passion of the Christ,”), Academy Award and Golden Globe winner Lou Gossett, Jr. (“An Officer and a Gentleman,” “Roots”), Michael York (“Romeo & Juliet,” “Austin Powers”), Golden Globe winner Stacy Keach (“Prison Break,” “Hemingway”), Academy Award winner Marisa Tomei, and others.
The Trumpet Awards were created to herald the accomplishments of Black Americans who have succeeded against immense odds. This year’s awards recipients included Halle Berry, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Danny Glover, Dr. T.B. Boyd III, and Sheila C. Johnson.
