Oceanside Christian Fellowship, (OCF) hosted the first in a series of 8 evening presentations titled Finding Faith / Fixing Faith and more than 120 people attended to find out what it was it was all about. Featuring guest speaker Duke Winser, the Finding Faith series is an attempt to create a first step opportunity for people to consider and examine faith in their lives.


Opening with David Bowie's Major Tom and a video of the lunar landing, the tone was set that this was not going to be a traditional worship service. Featuring video clips from the internet, live music from the 8 Tracks, and testimonials of local residents, the evening was full of thoughtful humor, and questions about faith in today's skeptical secular world.


"We have been working for the past several months to plan, design and promote this to the South Bay, and it was great to see so many new faces in the crowd tonight," said guest speaker Duke Winser. "It was cool, very different, very casual. I'll check it out again next week," commented Mike Bowman, a resident of Redondo Beach who was invited by a friend to the series.


Each week people attending will be asked to take a small step in their faith. Last night, Duke asked those in attendance to consider and accept the possibility that someone or something created the universe. The series continues for the next 7 weeks every Wednesday from 7:00pm to 8:30pm. Children's and Youth programs are also available. People are invited to attend any week they can make it. It isn't necessary to have participated in previous weeks to understand the topics covered each week.
