Fall Foliage from High Atop Ghost Town in the Sky

Ghost Town in the Sky will offer its guests spectacular views of Western North Carolina's fall foliage this season. Vista views at over 4500 feet in elevation allow visitors to view the entire scope of Maggie Valley and Soco Gap below. See http://www.ghosttowninthesky.com/ .

Ghost Town in the Sky, North Carolina's mountaintop family destination is nestled deep within the cradle of western North Carolina's Great Smoky Mountains, one of the largest protected areas in the United States. Ghost Town is located just four miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway's milepost 255.

Also known as "America's Favorite Drive", the Blue Ridge Parkway is the most visited unit of America's National Park System.

Each year, the Great Smoky Mountains attracts over nine million visitors. This area, once part of the Cherokee homeland, offers a hiker's paradise with over 800 miles of trails.

This western themed amusement park is the world's only theme park literally carved out of the top of the mountain and is still a favorite of thousands of visitors daily.

Guests begin their day at Ghost Town by riding one of North Carolina's longest chair-lifts with 75-degree inclines or riding in passenger vans, which boast unforgettable views of the vast valley below and the Great Smoky Mountains in the distance.

Fall Foliage seen from the top of Ghost Town will be forever preserved on film as Dean Teaster's Ghost Town "The Movie" was scheduled for production shoot around last year's color season.

Kids and grownups alike will enjoy this fall color season from Ghost Town in the Sky. Travel a few miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway and enjoy an authentic western town setting with high-energy wild west gunfights, 1800's saloon shows, while enjoying the fall-foliage views.

Kids can enjoy the Roundup ride that swings you off the side of the mountaintop, or Geronimo Drop for the highest view of the valley below.

Next year thrill-seekers can enjoy the "Cliffhanger", the world's only roller coaster located on the edge of a mountain at approximately 4,200 feet above sea level. Ghost Town is open May through November.
