Constantine Papadopoulos, CEO and Wayne Thompson, VP of Film Production and Development announced today the addition of a high concept Sci-Fi TV Movie of the Week and potential TV series to its development roster.
According to Wayne Thompson, "'DCV Chronicles' will be the first project where our Film and Television Divisions will work hand in hand in the production and marketing of this wholly owned Cinemax Pictures project. Frank Hagan, who is our VP of Television Production and Development, has signed over the rights to "DCV Chronicles", a Science Fiction series developed and created by him. In its previous incarnation, "DCV Chronicles" was called EARTHBOUND, a project that was once optioned by the animation house Film Roman as its first foray into live action production and subsequently by Filmwerk Meunchen, a German production company who licensed the script rights to develop the show for German Television. In 2006, Hagan revamped and updated the concept into "The DCV Chronicles."
According to Papadopoulos: "When fully funded, and utilizing Canadian production facilities and incentives, "DCV Chronicles" will be shot as a 'stand alone' Movie of the Week that will also serve as the pilot for any potential series we will be marketing. The project is a high concept Sci-Fi program about 5 young aliens who crash landed then found themselves stranded on earth back in 1863. The "A" story in the each episode will cover their "clandestine involvement" over 145 years of earth history, mans creativity and invention and social development. It will give viewers a fictionalized explanation as to why we as a planet have developed at a rate 20 times faster during this period of time than at any other point in recorded history."
Papadopoulos continued: "We asked Frank Hagan to join Cinemax Pictures just before we started the final moves of going public, and we are pleased he accepted. He is now employed as our Head of Television Production and Development. In the past, Frank has either produced or developed reality, documentary, scripted and talk-TV programming for such entities as Lion's Gate TV (Termite Art Productions), NBC, PAX TV, Creative Differences TV, Court TV, ION Network, Harpo Productions, Grosso-Jacobson, Discovery Network, Tribune Entertainment, Fireworks Television, Astro TV, Multimedia, Channel Nine (Australia), Buena Vista Television and ATI. He has worked with such on air talents as Joan Lunden, Morton Downey Jr., Phil Donahue, Oprah Winfrey, and Danny Bonaduce. Frank was also the former Programming Director and General Manager of QTN, but was not involved with the operations of or in senior management of QTN or its parent company, Triangle MultiMedia Limited.
