The legendary Oak Ridge Boys will be the evening headliner at the 2007 American Cancer Society Cattle Baron's Ball in Detroit on September 15 at the Michigan State Fairgrounds. The western-themed event brings a dash of cowboy spirit to the traditional black- tie circuit, boasting live country-western music, silent and live auctions, midway games, mechanical bull riding, and some of metro Detroit's best Texas- style cuisine. Tickets for this "string-tie optional" event are available for $200 each, and can be purchased from the American Cancer Society. Premier Baron/Baroness level seating is also available.
The Cattle Baron's Ball is a volunteer-driven event led by several influential automotive executives and community leaders, and supported by some of the area's top corporate and medical organizations, including General Motors, Ford Motor Company Fund, DaimlerChrysler Fund and Toyota. Jacqui Dedo of the Timken Company is taking the reins as executive chair for the 2007 Ball.
The Oak Ridge Boys will be bringing their longstanding success and crossover country sound to the evening's festivities. Over the years the Oak Ridge Boys have built an overwhelming resume, earning a bevy of honors from both the Academy of Country Music and the Country Music Association, and receiving multiple gold and platinum albums and Grammy awards.

First launched in Texas in the 1970s, the American Cancer Society's Cattle Baron's Ball has proven to be a successful fundraising model nationwide. Funds raised from the Cattle Baron's Ball benefit the American Cancer Society, the nation's leading voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer through research, education, advocacy and service. Since the inaugural debut in 2003, the Detroit Ball boasts record-breaking success having raised nearly $4.5 million locally -- earning recognition as one of the most distinctive charitable events in Metro Detroit.

"We are proud of the fact that the Cattle Baron's Ball supports cutting edge research in southeast Michigan and across the nation, as well as free patient service programs and prevention education." Funds raised during the event's live auction also provide college scholarships to childhood cancer survivors throughout Michigan. To date, more than $300,000 has been raised at the event in support of the Young Survivors Scholarship program.
