Dan Fogelberg's radio airplay more than doubled following his passing on Sunday, December 16, according to Mediabase, a firm which measures such activity.
"Dan Fogelberg has been around the music scene since the 1970s, and continues to have a marked reach to consumers through radio," remarked Mediabase President and Premiere Radio Networks EVP, Rich Meyer. "The spike in airplay on Monday was a fitting tribute by radio."
According to Mediabase, Fogelberg airplay increased by more than 100 percent on the Monday following his passing, in comparison to the Monday prior. On the Monday prior, Fogelberg registered 307 total plays, and on the Monday after, 701 plays registered in the U.S. and Canada. Fogelberg's signature song, "Same Old Lang Syne" far outdistanced the rest of his catalogue, racking up 546 plays.
