Employing a number of different surreal and existential techniques in which artists attempt to detach their conscious thoughts from their subconscious mind, Dale Robinson enters a territory of the darkest humor and most debonair of observations in his new collection of poetry, "Playground Beyond" (published by AuthorHouse - http://www.authorhouse.com/).
His linguistic prowess and almost devilish mischief over which he delights is nowhere better described than in his poem, "There's One In Every Pack (Cards)":
I'm the Joker in the pack
that hasn't been unwrapped
the craze one of fifty three
that hasn't been figured out
And though one of fifty three
without a number count
wild next to any card
to increase the impact
I'm no ordinary diamond
not the heart of your dreams
didn't have a club date
never held any spades
But I was the only one
who simply broke the mold
never been confined
by any form of rules
Inspired by his security guard work at a museum where he saw exhibits featuring Salvador Dali, H.C. Westermann and Yves Tanguy, Robinson has collected the most provocative and entertaining of his writing in his premier book, "Playground Beyond", which deserves a special place on the bookshelf of anyone who loves to revel in words.
Robinson was born July 7, 1958, in Washington, D.C., and currently resides in Hyattsville, Md. "I wrote my first 13 poems before I had a writer's block," he says. "It took me three years before I picked it back up and finished my book in 2005." He sincerely hopes children as well as adult readers will derive as much pleasure from his poetry as he has. "Playground Beyond" is his first publication.
