Elvis 30th Anniversary Commemorative Celebration and Exhibition Presented by Ideal Glass Gallery & Jelvis, The Jewish Elvis

As the world celebrates Elvis' legacy on the 30th anniversary of his passing, Ideal Glass Gallery and Jelvis, The Jewish Elvis will present an evening of live performances of the King's music in styles ranging from rock to jazz, from alternative to world. Following will be a three-day exhibition featuring Elvis memorabilia in a collaborative multimedia installation by visual artists, musicians, dancers, poets and Elvis impersonators expressing their 'Inner Elvis'.

Thursday, August 16th at 8:00 pm, the opening evening for press and invited guests, will include performances by musicians interpreting the King's music (including the Kosher King himself, Jelvis, The Jewish Elvis) along with a marathon screening of Elvis films, fashion show, a midnight vigil and Elvis-inspired food. The following three-day Elvis gallery installation (August 17-19th, Noon to 7:00 pm) will unite visual artists and performers from as many disciplinary and cultural backgrounds as possible with generations of Elvis fans in the interest of promoting world peace through the Gospel of the King of Rock n' Roll. This event will also feature live, videotaped testimonials in which participants are documented recounting how Elvis has influenced them as part of an on-going multimedia Elvis archive.

Among the acts scheduled to perform are the new music ensemble Drunken Goat featuring Cynthia Lee Wong and Joel Diamond; jazz pianist Sayuri Goto and trombonist Benny Powell; Argentine singer Maria Cangiano; John Rich & the Silk City Doo Wop Group; Nice Jewish Girls Gone Bad ringleader Goddess Perlman; jazz singer Jeffrey Smith; singer/songwriter Josh Mease; indie rock group Elizabeth & the Catapult; exotic dancer Bayhia; blues singer Sweet Georgia Brown; Tomoko Osaka; guitarist Mack Price; bassist David Lizmi, and others.

This is the premier event at Ideal Glass Gallery a new interdisciplinary industrial space in the East Village, created for the development and presentation of unusual works. The Gallery is located at 22 East 2nd Street, New York, NY, 10003.
