Goombah Announces Start of Online Voting and Music Downloads for the Starbucks New England Music Makers Competition

Goombah, the music discovery service, today announced the start of online public voting and complimentary track downloads in the Starbucks New England Music Makers Competition. Powered by Goombah, all internet users can listen to the music of the semi- finalists, download and keep tracks that they like and vote for their favorite musicians. The Starbucks radio player, created by Goombah, can easily be shared with friends via email or by posting on a web page.

The 3rd Annual Starbucks New England Music Makers Competition showcases up-and coming musicians in live performances with winners receiving career enhancing prizes. Starbucks New England, in conjunction with NEMO, also announced today the 49 semi-finalists who will compete at seven Starbucks locations in August and September. Finalists will be chosen from a combination of onsite judges and the online voting. The grand prize winner will be selected at the final performance on October 11, 2007 at the Hard Rock Café in Boston. "We're very excited to be part of this competition with one of the leading music companies in the world - Starbucks. The online component lets music lovers worldwide discover new artists and have a voice in selecting the best of the best," said Madeline S. Mooney, vice president of marketing at Emergent Music LLC, creator of Goombah.

"The competition combines the best of the local coffeehouse with the best of the world wide web. Starbucks offers local musicians the opportunity to display their songwriting talent, paying homage to the traditional coffeehouse culture through a series of live, in-store performances. With the online component provided by Goombah, we also offer music lovers around the world an opportunity to participate in jumpstarting local musicians' careers," said Danelle Sarvas, regional marketing specialist, Starbucks New England.

"This year we are honored to have a talented, eclectic array of 49 emerging artists in the competition. From Folk to Latin, Pop to Hip Hop, Emo to Americana, Goth to Jazz there promises to be music that will appeal to a wide audience of music lovers. We are extremely proud of this year's programming and thrilled to introduce these artists to an international audience via the world wide web thanks to Goombah," said Kristin Bredimus, director of NEMO and the Starbucks New England Music Makers Competition.
