The Shocking Violence in Iraq Was Only a Prelude to an Even More Devastating Challenge for These Soldiers 'The Ground Truth'

"The Ground Truth", a brutally honest, fulfilling, and unforgettable documentary account of the struggles of returned Iraq War veterans and their loved ones, comes to DVD on September 26, 2006 from Universal Studios Home Entertainment. Producer and director Patricia Foulkrod allows the soldiers to tell their own stories in a series of poignantly candid interviews that paint a heart-rending picture of suffering and loss. For many soldiers, the shocking violence of the ground conflict was only the beginning. In the words of Sean Huze, Corporal, U.S. Marine Corps, "Who we are when we leave is not who we are when and if we're lucky to return." The film documents the journeys of young men and women, ordinary Americans, as their lives are forever changed in ways that none of them expected.

Nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival, "The Ground Truth" is unflinchingly forthright in its account of the broken hearts and shattered lives left in the wake of the War in Iraq. Devastated by the unrelenting brutality of the war and overlooked by the government they served and sacrificed for, these reluctant heroes are beset by personal demons as well as physical and psychological wounds as they attempt to reintegrate into their families and communities. The DVD includes 15 additional minutes of astonishing extended and deleted footage.

A STORY THAT MUST BE HEARD

Critics and members of the military have hailed "The Ground Truth" for its plainspoken account of the difficult battles facing these veterans and for bringing their voices to the forefront. "This is undeniably one of the year's most compelling films..." says Claudia Puig of USA Today. "'The Ground Truth'... is a powerful, polemical, probing examination of the devastation the war has taken on returning soldiers," writes David Ansen of Newsweek.com. Encouraging Americans to bear witness, Aiden Delgado, Specialist in the U.S. Army, urges everyone to "Honor the veterans by really listening to what they have to say." The DVD is priced at $14.98 SRP. Preorder close is August 15, 2006.
