CONCERT.TV, the only television network dedicated to live music performances and documentaries, announced a licensing agreement with Northstar Media, an independent TV, Film and Video distribution company, for the entire catalog of the definitive music program Later With Jools Holland. Northstar Media licensed the full series to CONCERT.TV on behalf of its UK partner, 3DD Entertainment. The three-year deal includes all 221 episodes that have been shot to date, the majority of which CONCERT.TV has exclusive TV On Demand rights in North America and marks the first time that a US-based network will provide a home for the entire series. Beginning in October, CONCERT.TV will every month feature a fresh slate of great Later With Jools Holland programming.
Later With Jools Holland is widely recognized as the show for televised live music performances. A major hit in the UK, the series has been on the air since 1992 and boasts a stellar roster of guests from pop to world music to hip-hop to techno. Performers have included The Black Eyed Peas, Elton John, Ry Cooder, The Foo Fighters, Van Morrison, Beck, the Arctic Monkeys, Dixie Chicks, Bettye Lavette, Sheryl Crow, Sigur Ros, REM, Cat Power, Gnarls Barkley, Willie Nelson and many, many others.
"As a network devoted to live performances, CONCERT.TV is the perfect home for Later with Jools Holland," said Pat McDonald, co-president of Northstar Media. "To my knowledge, this is the first time that a VOD network has licensed a catalogue in its entirety and by doing so the company is truly showcasing its commitment to the future of VOD."
"The Later series speaks perfectly to who we are and what we're about," said Michael Shimbo, President and Co-Founder of CONCERT.TV. "I've always been a huge fan of the series and am awed by the sheer volume of talent and amazing live performances. I know our viewers are going to love the shows and further appreciate how CONCERT.TV uses the VOD platform to bring them unique and compelling programming."
