Court TV, the network that redefined the idea of caught-on-tape action with the hit show Video Justice, is sending out an APB to cops and viewers: capture the most outrageous, can't-make-this- stuff-up, crime-related acts you capture on video and we'll feature them on our new broadband-exclusive site, R.E.D. TAPE. Those clips which are selected will receive a payment of $100 if submission goes online and $500 if the submission goes on air.
R.E.D. TAPE is the first interactive initiative from Court TV's new R.E.D. (Real, Exciting, Dramatic) broadband channel, which launched in June 2006 and offers downloadable Court TV programming, cell phone verdict alerts, as well as video-on-demand options. Users with action-packed footage may submit it through the network's website at www.courttv.com/redtape. Court TV is also reaching out to over one million law enforcement personnel around the country to stream their most amazing caught-on-tape moments. Accepted footage will air on Court TV's R.E.D. broadband channel and may potentially be featured later on-air. All submissions are subject to the complete submission requirements available at www.courttv.com/redtape.
"We see R.E.D. TAPE creating an on-line community for law enforcement and citizens to view and share compelling videos of crimes caught-on-tape," said Marc Juris, Court TV General Manager. "We want to entertain viewers, but also show potential lawbreakers that cameras are everywhere, and that today, it's pretty difficult to get away with a crime without being recorded."
The network has launched an advertising and marketing campaign with targets that include Officer.com, Policeone.com, and Policemag.com.
