'Lost' star Michelle Rodriguez has been sentenced to 60 more days in jail by a Los Angeles judge due to her drunk driving arrest in Hawaii. Rodriguez served five days in jail in Hawaii as a result of her guilty plea. The Los Angeles court sentenced her to the additional sentence because the Hawaii arrest for DUI violating the conditions of her probation.
In addition to the additional jail sentence, Judge Rex Hesseman also sentenced Rodriguez to 30 days of community service with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, stints with the Mothers Against Drunk Driving victim impact panel and the city's hospital and morgue program. The 27-year-old actress will also be required to attend an alcohol education program.
Frank Mateljan, a spokesman for Rodriguez, told reporters the 'Lost' star will begin her sentence on May 31.
The original charges against Rodriguez arose from a 2004 incident in which she pled no contest to charges of hit-and-run, driving on a suspended license and driving under the influence of alcohol. As a result of the incident in Hawaii, Rodriguez's probation will now be extended until June 2009.
Rodriguez has had a string of tough luck recently. Ana Lucia, the character she played on 'Lost,' was killed off in a recent episode of the show.
