The FBI searched the home and office of Kyle 'Dusty' Foggo, who resigned on Monday from the #3 post at the CIA. Foggo is reportedly under investigation for his alleged role in a contracting scandal. The CIA's inspector general, the FBI, the Internal Revenue Service and the Defense Criminal Investigative Service have all had a part in looking into Foggo's actions.
The investigation is part of the same scandal that brought down Representative Randy 'Duke' Cunningham earlier this year. Authorities believe the case may involve a much wider pattern of bribery and government corruption.
Foggo has served in the CIA for two decades and had postings in Honduras, Vienna and Frankfurt. He was named executive director by Porter Goss in November 2004.
Among the charges allegedly being investigated is whether he improperly awarded agency contracts to a longtime friend, Brent R. Wilkes, a military contractor whose companies have received nearly $100 million in government contracts over the years.
The government did have a warrant authorizing them to carry out the searches. Because of the sensitive nature of the investigation, the warrants were sealed and no further details were being released at this time. Thus far, Foggo has not been charged with any specific crime.
