World traveler Anthony Bourdain is back for another season of his widely anticipated travel series, 'No Reservations.' Season two returns with a two-hour special on Monday, March 27 from 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM (ET/PT) that takes Bourdain through Japan and China. 'No Reservations' airs regularly on Mondays from 10:00 PM to 11:00 PM (ET/PT).
'I'm a professional traveler. I don't really liv anywhere these days. I love what I'm doing and I love to tell stories,' said bourdain. ''No Reservations' affords me the opportunity to explore all the places I'm curious about, and the luxury of being honest about them. Every minute of travel forces you to learn something--however painfully at times. In reality, most of the time travel is pure pleasure. This is a big planet, with a lot of fascinating stuff and interesting people on it. I'm trying to see as much of it and experience as much of it as I can before the network comes to their senses and stops me.'
In the two-hour Asia special of 'No Reservations,' Tony's first stop is Japan, where in Osaka he is quickly introduced to the baseball loving, sushi devouring public at a local underground bar. From there, he participates in several native traditions such as takigyo, or 'waterfall meditation' and observes O-Bon, the festival of the dead.
In China, Bourdain arrives first at Tiananmen Square in Beijing where he grabs a snack at LiuBiJui, a local pickle shop. Craving something more substantial, he follows his nose to Li Qun Roast Duck Restaurant to savor the house specialty -- Peking duck. Leaving Beijing, Bourdain experiences the more rural areas of Sichuan Province and tours HuangLongXi, an ancient village, and Jianfu Temple, the center of Taoism during the Tang Dynasty.
