New York, March 15, 2006 – While "Today" show host Katie Couric may have to compete with other morning shows for guests, she sure can pull them in at night. Couric said she loved the Motown theme of her cancer fundraiser, and laughingly recalled dancing to the music of The Jackson 5 while growing up. “Wow, look what happened to that family!” she blurted. Wearing a dress by Carmen Marc Valvo, Katie greeted the designer with a hug, and joked to photographers, “This is for our New York Times wedding photo.”
We hoped for romance news when Couric’s sometime boyfriend, musician Chris Botti, showed up, but we have no new buzz on that front. Anyway, the Motown theme brought Mary J. Blige, Smokey Robinson, Ludacris, John Legend, Elvis Costello and rarely seen singing legend Chaka Khan to the Waldorf-Astoria bash.
