The Minnesota Vikings have traded disgruntled quarterback Dante Culpepper to the Miami Dolphins. While the Vikings have yet to officially release the details of the deal, published reports indicate the Dolphins will give the Vikings a second round pick in this year's draft.
Culpepper had asked to leave Minnesota after a difficult 2005. His season ended on October 30 when he suffered torn knee ligaments. Prior to that, Culpepper was struggling adjusting to life without star receiver Randy Moss. In his seven season with the Vikings, Culpepper made three Pro Bowls.
The star quarterback was also one of the players accused of lewd behavior in the infamous 'Love Boat' scandal in which several Vikings players were charged with misdemeanors for public displays of lewd behavior with strippers on a cruise. The case is still pending.
Just last week, Culpepper sent an e-mail to reporters discussing his desire for a trade. It read, 'Because of the fundamental differences I have with management regarding the approach to my personal and professional life, I think it is the best business decision for both parties to go our separate ways.'
Now, Culpepper has his wish. The Vikings will likely start the season with veteran Brad Johnson at quarterback. Meanwhile, Culpepper gives the Dolphins a huge upgrade at the quarterback position and makes them instant contenders in the AFC East.
