'Smoking' at MoMA

New York, March 12, 2006 – There is perhaps no place better to have held the premiere of "Thank You for Smoking", the satirical comedy about the big tobacco lobby, than in New York City. Sure, the lobbyists weave their webs in Washington, D.C., but New York State is home to one of the most draconian smoking bans in the U.S. Basically, you can smoke only in your own home, or outdoors. Anyway, an eclectic bunch – Alexandra Kerry, Halle Berry, SNL’s Rachel Dratch, Josh Lucas, Vogue’s Anna Wintour and Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters - came to the Museum of Modern Art screening, purportedly to check out the big screen version of Christopher Buckley’s smart novel. But we’re sure they all really wanted to see if Katie Holmes’ sex scene – the one infamously cut from film festival screenings – is smoking hot or not. Unfortunately, Katie wasn’t at the premiere.
