Actor Sean Connery is recovering at his home in the Bahamas after undergoing surgery to remove a tumor on one of his kidneys. The operation took place in New York a few weeks ago.
'He's very fit — he's 100 percent plus,' Connery spokesman James Barron told the Associated Press.
The 75-year-old Connery is best known for portraying Agent 007 in the early James Bond films. He won an Academy Award for best supporting actor in 1988 for his role in 'The Untouchables.' He was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2000.
Connery's brother Neil told 'The Sunday Times' that the tumor was not cancerous. 'As far as I'm led to believe, the tumor was benign,' Neil Connery said. 'He seems to be quite upbeat about it.'
Connery's recovery seems to be going well. The Scottish actor has announced that he plans to attend Tartan Day festivities in New York in April and will also be recording a voiceover for the pro-independence Scottish National Party shortly.
