The Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades have called for renewed violence against Israel and have asked other militant groups to also take part in terror attacks. The Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades are a militant group affiliated with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah movement.
'We will strike at the enemy at any place,' the al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades said in a statement. 'We declare a high alert among our men, with the goal of quickly avenging the Zionists' crimes.'
The call for increased violence came one day after an Israeli missile attack aimed at two militants from the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades resulted in three civilian deaths.
In a separate incident, a member of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades was killed in Nablus Wednesday during a gunfight with Israeli troops. Two other members of the militant group were injured in the incident while the Israel Defense Forces arrested 12 suspected militants.
P.A. President Abbas had just called for an end to rocket and mortar attacks into Israel earlier this week.
