Three prison employees were shot inside the federal detention center located in Tallahassee, Florida on Wednesday. The identity of the victims the exact circumstances surrounding the incident were not yet clear but published reports indicate that two of the shooting victims have died of their wounds. The condition of the third person is not presently known.
Prison authorities say that the compound, which holds a total of 1,445 inmates, is now under lockdown status.
A spokesman for the Tallahassee police indicated that all three victims of the shooting had been rushed to a local hospital after the incident. The identity of the two dead employees and the shooter have not yet been released.
The FBI has begun an investigation into the shooting. Preliminary reports indicate that a prison guard opened fire when investigators came to the facility to arrest six corrections officers. The investigation into the incident continues.
