Two Children Killed By Israeli Air Strike

Israeli aircraft fired missiles at a car carrying Palestinian militants. Two children were killed in the attack while nine other people were wounded. Four of the wounded were children.

The Israeli military acknowledged firing at the car which was carrying members of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, a militant organization with ties to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah Party. Palestinian militants often use the area to fire missiles into Israel.

Eyewitnesses say that the people inside the targeted car jumped out before the missile hit in a narrow street inside the Jebaliya camp in the northern Gaza Strip.

The dead were a five-year-old boy and a seven-year-old girl according to Palestinian hospital sources.

Ironically, Abbas had called for an end to rocket attacks against Israel. 'President Abbas called on all military groups in Gaza to stop launching rockets at Israel and to fully comply with the truce with Israel,' Abbas aide Nabil Abu Rudeineh announced Tuesday.

'President Abbas holds any group and any faction that violates the truce fully responsible for the destruction and demolitions and victims that will result because of any Israeli imminent aggression,' he added.

Just last week, the Israel Defense Forces killed eight civilians in a similar air strike in addition to the two militants that were targeted.

Israel's Channel 2 TV expressed anger over today's incident, calling it 'another failed assassination attempt, and again innocent civilians were hit.'
