Jolie-Pitt Baby's First Photos Auctioned Off For Charity

If the tabloids want photos of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's new baby, the couple figures they will put the public's insane curiosity to good use. Pitt and Jolie have decided to auction off the exclusive rights to their newborn's first photos and to donate the proceeds to charity.

The couple's first child, Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt, was born on May 27 in the African nation of Namibia. Predictably, paparazzi descended on Namibia hoping to get first photos of the child.

Instead of allowing a circus to take place, Jolie and Pitt decided to give Getty Images the photo and to auction off the rights to the highest bidder.

Getty Images spokeswoman Deb Trevino said,’ These are highly anticipated images, and they will be out there quickly.'

Experts have predicted the photos could be worth between $5 million and $7 million.

Pitt and Jolie released a joint statement saying, 'While we celebrate the joy of the birth of our daughter, we recognize that 2 million babies born every year in the developing world die on the first day of their lives. These children can be saved, but only if governments around the world make it a priority.'

Jonathan Klein, chief executive officer of Getty Images, said in a statement: 'We are honored that the Jolie-Pitt family has recognized our long-term commitment to these critical issues as well as our ability to use the power of imagery to make a difference in the lives of many.'

Jolie, 30 and Pitt, 42, also are the parents of two adopted children, son Maddox, 4, and daughter, Zahara, who is about 15 months old. This is the couple's first biological child together.
