Former President Gerald R. Ford has been admitted to a Vail, Colorado hospital for shortness of breath. Ford is expected to be released late Wednesday.
Ford spokesman Penny Circle would not say when the ex-president was admitted to Vail Valley Medical Center. Ford has a home in Beaver Creek, Colorado, just outside Vail.
Ford turned 93 on July 14 and is the nation's oldest living former chief executive. He has had some health problems in recent months including a 12-day hospital visit in January when he was treated for pneumonia.
Ford became president in August 1974 when Richard Nixon was forced to resign as a result of his involvement in the Watergate cover-up. Ford was named vice president by Nixon after the resignation of Spiro T. Agnew a year earlier. The former Michigan Congressman was defeated in 1976 by Jimmy Carter in his bid for re-election.
