Lance Bass, a member of the boy band 'N Sync, has admitted he's gay. Bass was in 'N Sync with Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone and Chris Kilpatrick. The band, which was known for hits like, 'Bye Bye Bye' and 'It's Gonna Be Me,' broke up in 2002.
Bass told 'People' magazine that he would not reveal his sexual preference because he feared it would hurt the band's popularity.
'I knew that I was in this popular band and I had four other guys' careers in my hand, and I knew that if I ever acted on it or even said (that I was gay), it would overpower everything,' he said.
Bass, 29, says he's in a 'stable relationship' with 32-year-old Reichen Luhmkuhl, the winner of season four of the reality show, 'The Amazing Race.'
'The thing is, I'm not ashamed - that's the one thing I went to say,' Bass says. 'I don't think it's wrong, I'm not devastated going through this. I'm more liberated and happy than I've been my whole life. I'm just happy.'
Bass and Fatone are presently working on a sitcom based on 'The Odd Couple' in which Bass's character will be gay. The project is still in the developmental stage.
