For rapper Lil' Kim, Independence Day came one day early. The 4'11' Kim, whose real name is Kimberly Jones, was released from a federal detention center in Philadelphia after spending almost 10 months in jail.
Lil' Kim was serving a sentence for lying under oath about a shooting outside a New York City radio station. She was sentenced to one-year and one-day in prison but was let go early for good behavior.
She emerged from prison to a crowd of adoring friends and fans wearing sunglasses and a white outfit. She greeted fans before pulling into a silver Rolls-Royce.
'I love you,' Kim said, blowing kisses to the crowd. Fans held up signs of support including one that read, 'Welcome Home, Queen Bee.'
Meanwhile, Kim's attorney, L. Londell McMillan released a statement saying, 'She has accepted responsibility and handled herself in an exemplary manner.'
Lil' Kim is not quite free of the federal judicial system. The rap star must still serve 30 days of house arrest and has three years of probation. But for now, Lil' Kim is just happy to be home.
