Today’s Forecast: Mostly Sunny 80% Chance of Earthquake
One of the most devastating natural disasters this planet faces is earthquakes. Each year countless lives are lost due to this force of nature. But, what if you knew an earthquake was coming? Would there be time to put together must-have emergency supplies, get prepared for your family and pets, and find a safe place to duck and cover? YES!
"The Man Who Predicts Earthquakes” penned by popular journalist Cal Orey provides intuitive insight into one man's passion for predicting quakes and his controversial methods. This groundbreaking book will provide insight and cutting-edge techniques about early earthquake warnings and preparedness. It’s an intriguing collection of earthquake survivors' testimonials, interviews with worldwide seismologists, the conservative USGS, psychics; plus regionally specific quake information, preparation tips, earthquake cover-ups, and more.
Jim Berkland is the only American scientist to predict and name a major quake. His forecast of the infamous October 17, 1989 World Series Quake that rumbled through the San Francisco Bay Area was well documented. Berkland has accurately predicted at least 6 other significant quakes around the world.
Many of Berkland’s theories--based on tides, moon cycles, disoriented animals, and magnetic field changes--were factors in the great Indian Ocean quake-tsunami disaster on December 26, 2004. Since scientists admit they aren’t able to predict earthquakes, is it really so far-fetched to monitor animals’ sixth sense?
Natural phenomenon’s such as sensitive people and pets so in tune with the Earth can and should be tools for early predictions. Orey, an uncanny animal-loving “earthquake sensitive” (a term that refers to humans who have demonstrated an ability to detect precursors that signal an upcoming earthquake), and Berkland, a brilliant geologist, both hope that “someday earthquake warnings will be announced along with the weather” and could save countless people’s lives around the world.
Earthquakes result in millions of dollars in damage each year. In the U.S. alone earthquakes pose significant risk to 75 million people in 39 states. The Pacific
Northwest, West Coast, Midwest, Southern states, East Coast, and Hawaii are not immune. Earthquakes may not be preventable but they are predictable.
"You can learn to familiarize yourself with Mother Nature’s warning signs of an earthquake and be prepared before it strikes. This book is not myth; it dispels truths that can save lives, “stated Orey.
About the Author Cal Orey and Geologist Jim Berkland
Jim Berkland is a maverick geologist who worked many years for the U.S.
Geological Survey. He was also the first County Geologist for Santa Clara County in Northern California. He is a well-known guest on many national network news programs and talk shows on the subject of earthquake prediction. He resides in Glen Ellen, California.
Cal Orey is a veteran author and journalist. Ms. Orey is the author of several books, including The Healing Powers of Vinegar, Doctors' Orders: What 101 Doctors Do to Stay Healthy (translated in three languages), and 202 Pets' Peeves: Cats and Dogs Speak Out on Pesky Human Behavior (all published by Kensington).
