Filmmaker and comedian, Matt Liston is giving Cub fans a reason to cheer in 2006! After 4 years, his film "Chasing October: A fan's crusade" is going to make its big screen debut at THE MUSIC BOX THEATRE in Wrigleyville, on August 31st, for charity.
Liston began his crusade to get the Cubs to the World Series, "by any means necessary," during the 2002-2005 seasons. With cameras rolling and bull-horn in hand, Liston gains all access to the team, gets the Cubs a player in a trade, and sits near Steve Bartman as the infamous play takes place.
Blending his experience from producing docs for Discovery Channel with working on such comedy hits as Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm, the Chicago native creates what he describes as a "docu-comedy." The film uses actual documentary footage with scripted scenes to create the 85 minute film.
Appearances include celebrities Bernie Mac, Gary Sinise, Joe Mantegna, Jeff Garlin, Larry King and more.
The film features songs by Chicago musicians Billy Corgan and Sunday Morning Chameleon. As well as the distinguished voice of Chicago news legend Bill Kurtis.
Liston and parts of his film will also be featured in HBO's upcoming Chicago Cubs doc premiering Sept 26th.
Liston is currently the voice of Discovery Channel's, "Everything You Need To Know" series seen Wednesday nights.
