New York, August 15, 2006 – We can’t remember ever dancing so much at Marquee as on Tuesday, when the celebrity haunt shook to the sounds of Christina Aguilera’s new album, "Back to Basics". The big-voiced superstar was the center of attention at the release party, and she spent the evening greeting friends, dancing and having a blast.
Several songs on the new record are love notes to Aguilera's husband, Jordan Bratman, and they seemed the perfect couple at the party, sometimes snuggling together on a chair, and other times working the room separately. At one point, Xtina jumped up and down on the banquette, and wrapped record honcho Clive Davis in a bear hug.
In a form fitting Herve Leger dress, Christian Louboutin shoes and trademark (for now) red lipstick and platinum blonde hair, Aguilera talked about her various musical influences – Etta James, Otis Redding, jazz - and hinted that she’ll be changing her look as she evolves.
Christina told us that one of the people she’d like to work with is Bjork! “I think she’s exciting. And I think what she brings to the table is very different, and I think she’s one that also pushes the envelope in getting people to think outside of their own safety boxes. I think what she does is very, very interesting."
