New York, April 19, 2006 – As if facing the critics in her first Broadway role wasn’t intimidating enough, Julia Roberts had Oprah Winfrey in the audience on opening night on Wednesday. And we all know the effect Oprah had on James Frey’s career. But Julia only has "Three Days of Rain", while Frey had a million little pieces to look after. For some reason, even though Roberts has two high-profile co-stars in the play – Paul Rudd and Bradley Cooper – all the attention is on her. Also hitting opening night were Diane Sawyer and Mike Nichols, Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon, and rocker Dave Matthews, who returned a favor: Roberts appeared in one of his recent music videos. Reality show chef Rocco DiSpirito proved once and for all that he is straight, showing up at a Broadway opening wearing a sequined shirt with flower appliqués.
