A Movie About a Reality Show

Los Angeles, April 11, 2006 – The ads for the movie "American Dreamz" read: “Imagine a country where more people vote for a pop idol than their next president”. Don’t we live in that country? The fictional movie riffs on the popularity of reality shows like "American Idol", and how more people care about that than about politics, and it’s all so ironic it makes our heads spin.

Stars Mandy Moore, Dennis Quaid, Marcia Gay Harden and Jennifer Coolidge were at the Cinerama Dome for the Hollywood premiere. Marg Helgenberger, Andrea Bowen and Molly Sims couldn’t resist. Wade Williams stopped by and delivered bad news for "Prison Break" fans: expect another long break between the current season and the next one.

Mandy’s man, Zach Braff, was there. Chris Klein, former fiancé of Tom Cruise-impregnated Katie Holmes, was disappointingly absent from the premiere.
