Report: Nick and Jessica: Newlyweds No More

Despite repeated denials, rumors continue to circulate in celebrity tabloids and Web sites that Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey, the couple that made their marriage a reality show in 'Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica' have separated.

"Us Weekly" put the couple's alleged separation on the cover of this week's issue. After the story was published, representatives for both Lachey, 31, and Simpson, 25, denied that the couple have split.

'Nick and Jessica have not separated,' said a joint statement on behalf of the couple released Wednesday. 'Rumors to the contrary are simply not true.'

Alex Dudley, a spokesman for 'Us Weekly' said the magazine is standing by its story.

'TV Guide Online' also ran a similar story claiming the couple had broken up.

The tabloid 'The Star' claims that Lachey and a 19-year-old college student named Danielle Calo engaged in an hour-long French kissing session together in a hotel room in Columbus, Ohio. Lachey's representatives denied the claim but 'The Star' said that Calo passed a polygraph test.

According to 'The Star,' Calo said, 'I do consider what happened cheating -- you always hear that Nick and Jessica are not together, but pursuing another woman while you're married is cheating. And I felt guilty kissing him. I wouldn't want my husband kissing other women. I feel badly [sic] if Jessica is in the dark -- but I don't think she is.'

Have Nick and Jessica really separated or is this yet another attempt to increase publicity for their careers by keeping their names in the headlines? Only time will tell.
