Butching It Up for Katrina Victims

New York, September 26-30 – NBC turned Rockefeller Plaza, where the "Today" show is set, into a round-the-clock construction zone, building houses with Habitat for Humanity that will be shipped to the Gulf region for hurricane victims.

And to set an example for the rest of us, famous folks have been dropping by all week, pounding nails, sawing and sanding. With good intentions all around, the celebs made for odd pairings, and we’re certain that some of these people have never so much as changed a light bulb.

Brooke Shields brought the entire cast of "Chicago". Mega-millionaire Edgar Bronfman, Jr. and Sean “Diddy” Combs got their collars blue together on the construction site. Cynthia Nixon and Joan Rivers? "40-Year-Old Virgin" star Steve Carell seemd kind of inexperienced working the boards. Kimora Lee Simmons lent her support by showing up, but didn’t risk breaking her nails. Chef Jamie Oliver exchanged his pots and pans for hammer and nails.

Our votes for the week’s hottest hammerers go to NASCAR champ Jeff Gordon, and "Fantastic Four" star Jessica Alba.
