The Debra LaFave case came to an abrupt halt yesterday when Miss LaFave took a plea that the state offered of three years curfew and seven years of probation. Many people feel that this is not enough of a punishment and that it is a bad example for future cases of rape in Tampa, FL and around the country.
Former Greco Middle School teacher Debra Lafave, 25, said during Tuesday's trial in Tampa, 'I accept full responsibility for my actions,'
In a July pre trial hearings, Miss LaFaves Attorney, John Fitzgibbons said that 'To place an attractive young woman in that kind of hell hole is like putting a piece of raw meat in with the lions, I'm not sure she would survive.'
Many questions of ethics and responsibility have been raised in this case, and Debra's ex-husband Owen LaFave will be tackling these questions in a documentary directed by Chris Barrett entitled 'After School'. http://www.afterschooldocumentary.com.
