New York, November 8, 2005 – The United Nations continues to go Hollywood. On Tuesday, celebrities swarmed into the headquarters to honor “heroes of poverty eradication” at the U.N. Gala Awards dinner, and love was everywhere. Marc Anthony kissed his wife, Jennifer Lopez, before dashing upstairs to the delegates’ dining room. J. Lo gave the evening’s host, Tim Robbins, a big greeting. Ben Jelen, Walter Cronkite, Chelsea Clinton, Alyssa Milano and Judith Light were flitting around.
The evening got us thinking. The U.N. is reportedly looking around for swing space to occupy while the organization’s tower on Manhattan’s East Side undergoes extensive renovations. Why not just move to Los Angeles for that time? New York neighbors will get a break from the gridlock, and the dignitaries will have practically unlimited access to Hollywood stars. Do we have to think of everything?
