The White House and the U.S. Capitol were evacuated Wednesday after an unidentified aircraft entered Washington's airspace. F-16 fighter jets and a Black Hawk helicopter intercepted the aircraft and the all clear was given approximately 15 minutes after the order to evacuate was given.

President Bush was not in the White House when the evacuation was ordered but Vice President Dick Cheney was in the West Wing and was quickly evacuated to a 'secure location.' Bush was reportedly riding his bicycle in Maryland with a secret service detachment.

According to a report published by CNN, a Secret Service agent told a reporter, 'Run, this is no joke, leave the grounds,' just after the call to evacuate was given.

The Capitol Building was also evacuated. Congressman Bob Ney of Ohio told the Associated Press, 'There was so much commotion in the gallery. People were yelling in the gallery. We thought something had happened in the gallery, and then the alarm came to evacuate.'

This is the second time that the White House has been evacuated due to an airspace violation in recent months.
