Pop singer Michael Jackson told his fans he was 'completely innocent' of the child molestation charges against him and claims he is the victim of a conspiracy just like many other past 'black luminaries.'
In an interview with the Reverend Jesse Jackson broadcast live on the Internet, the self proclaimed, 'King of Pop' asked for his fans prayers. 'I just want to say to fans in every corner of the Earth, every nationality, every race, every language, I love you from the bottom of my heart. I would love your prayers and your goodwill, and please be patient and be with me and believe in me because I am completely, completely innocent. But please know a lot of conspiracy is going on as we speak,' he said.
The singer said he could not elaborate about the conspiracy due to the gag order in place in his case but he said the conspiracy against him was similar to the one put in place against other black luminaries like former heavyweight champs Muhammad Ali and Jack Johnson and former South African President Nelson Mandela.
Michael also tried to explain his previous lateness to court and why he showed up in pajamas one day. He claims he fell in the shower and suffered a bruised lung. However, later in the interview, he claimed to have 'perfect' health.
Jackson also denied he was close to bankruptcy. 'That's not true at all. It's just one of their many schemes to embarrass me. It's to drag me through the mud,' he said. 'There's a big fight going on, right now as we speak,' he said. 'I can't comment on it, but there's a lot of conspiracy out there.'
He also described the present as the 'low point' of his life emotionally.
Jackson is presently accused of sexually molesting a then 13-year-old boy at his Neverland Ranch. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison. Jackson denies all charges.
