Last night, 'American Idol' repeated Tuesday's performance show due to an error in the graphics that recorded each contestant's phone number for voting. The show, which was aired live, featured each contestant's performance, followed by an updated critique by the judges and the contestant's feelings about it all played out. Viewers were then asked to vote for their favorite... again.
Essentially, this show was nothing more than a repeat, but proves a point. 'Idol' fans will watch just about anything related to the show, and Fox's ratings giant continues to roll over the competition. How big? Wednesday's repeat show attracted 20.6 million viewers, blowing out the competition (a repeat of 'CSI' on CBS came in second). On Tuesday, 27.6 million watched the first time around, again, giving the show top honors for the time slot.
Tonight's 'Idol' will air at 9:00 p.m., opposite the last half hour of NBC's 'Apprentice,' which is down to eight contestants. Following 'Idol,' will be Fox's season premiere of a new sitcom, 'Life on a Stick.'
