A mistake displaying the voting line phone numbers during Tuesday’s episode of “American Idol” has forced the show to allow a revote during tonight's episode.
A separate phone number is devoted to each contestant during each episode. Viewers have two hours at the conclusion of the show to call the appropriate number to cast a vote for their favorite singer. The singer receiving the lowest number of votes is eliminated.
This is not the first time that negative attention has been focused upon the shows voting procedure. Last season was highlighted by Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member Elton John proclaiming the voting pattern racist after black contestants who were considered favorites, faced elimination while weaker white contestants advanced.
