Die Hard 4.0: Word on the street is that Ben Affleck is to play Bruce Willis's screen son in Die Hard 4.0. The Shirley Oracle reports that "Affleck is in final talks to join Bruce Willis in the $130M blockbuster Die Hard 4. Willis, who reprises his role as singlette- adorned law-man John McClane in the film, has been beseeching for a project to work with now good friend Affleck, whom he co-starred with in 1998's Armageddon with, for several years - initially suggesting him for Tears of the Sun". Shooting kicks off this coming Autumn.
Unititled Newman/ Redford Movie: Paul Newman has hinted that his last movie he will make before he retires will see him back on screen with his Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid co-star, Robert Redford. "I hate to talk about anything until the papers are drawn up, but we've been looking for something for 20 years and now we're looking harder. I hope something will come of it."
Johnny Blaze: Eddie Murphy will play hip-hop star turned private detective Johnny Blaze in a film of the same name. DreamWorks and Imagine Entertainment are behind the project and Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, (Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle) will write the script. Variety reports that the actor will also return to voice 'Donkey' in Shrek 3, also for Dreamworks.
Baywatch - The Movie: In one of the strangest stories of the day, it seems that Steven Spielberg has secured the rights to make a big-screen version of the hit TV series, 'Baywatch'. The New York Post says that the film eill be made sometime in 2006.
Cheating Death: Final Destination 3: Ryan Merriman and Mary Winstead, who both appeared in this weekend's big opener 'The Ring 2', have signed on to star in Final Destination 3. James Wong and Glen Morgan return to write an direct the horror sequel, and this time around the action takes place around a rollercoaster crash. Filming will begin next month in Vancouver with a budget of $25 million.
Good: Hugh Jackman will produce and star in 'Good', an independent film that revolves around Jackman's character, a German professor seduced by a sense of national pride in the 1930s as the Nazis rose to power. Jason Issaacs and Romola Garai (Vanity Fair) also star.
The Adventures of Shark Boy and Lava Girl: Robert Rodriguez has been talking about his next film (after Sin City) to Coming Soon! "It's these little kid superheroes. This little boy dreams up these characters people think don't exist and they show up one day and take him out of school to another planet and a different planet. It's a really cool movie." The Ring Three: First screenwriter Ehren Kruger says that a third 'Ring' movie might be in the works, now director Hideo Nakata has told the Chicago Sun-Times that he won't rule out another movie. "I wouldn't be surprised if there was another one," Nakata said. "I'd love to do 'Ring Three.'" Could it be 'Ring 0?'" In Japan, I directed a 'Ring' prequel called 'Ring Zero.' It's about how the little girl was killed at age 8." It seems that the third movie may be a prequel as Naomi Watts has told MovieHole that she expects the thord movie to go 'in a completely different direction'.
The Flash: Van Wilder himself, Ryan Reynolds says that he would be up for playing The Flash, just as long as Warner Brothers greenlights David Goyer's recently submitted script.
The Butterfly Effect 2: Variety reports that FilmEngine have approved a pitch for a sequel to last years 'The Butterfly Effect'. New Line will distribute the movie that John Leonetti, who directed Mortal Kombat: Annihilation will helm and Michael Weiss will write. Ashton Kutcher will not be in the sequel.
Killraven: Another day, another proposed comic book adaptation, and the news that Sony Pictures hope to adapt the Marvel comic Killraven into a feature. Coming Soon reports that the story is set in a future where mankind has been enslaved by an alien race, storyline follows a man who, though born in captivity, rises through gladiatorial battles to become the leader of a group of revolutionaries. Called the Freemen, his warrior-slaves unite in an attempt to drive the invaders off the Earth.
