Pop star Michael Jackson continues to make a big show of his child molestation trial. Today, he showed up late for court for a third time. It appears that Jackson has not read the defendant's handbook for how to get on the good side of the judge.
The circus continued today when Jackson entered the courtroom late accompanied by a doctor in surgical scrubs. After a 40 minute delay, the case was resumed with Judge Rodney S. Melville giving no explanation to the jury for the delay.
After Jackson arrived, the doctor who accompanied him, identified as Bert Weiner of Cottage Hospital in Santa Ynez, went into the judge's chambers to speak to the judge. He remained in the courtroom after the case resumed.
Jackson's trial is set to resume with the prosecution moving forward with its case. Jackson is accused of sexually molesting a 13-year-old boy after serving him with alcohol. He denies any wrongdoing. If convicted, Jackson faces up to 20 years in prison.
The judge has yet to make a ruling on the key issue of whether or not Jackson's past allegations of sexual misconduct against children can be admitted into evidence.
