NFL May Play Regular Season Game in Mexico City

Although the schedule is not official yet, the NFL is close to finalizing a deal that would see the first-ever regular season game to take place outside the United States this year. An October 2 game between the Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers would take place in Mexico City and be televised nationally by ESPN.

The game would be a home game for Arizona. The Cardinals rarely sell out there home games, but the NFL believes they could draw 100,000 fans to a one-time game in Mexico City.

'We're working on it but it's not finalized yet,' NFL spokesman Greg Aiello told the Associated Press.

Cardinals vice-president Michael Bidwill was also enthused. 'It would be a historic and unprecedented event,' Bidwill said.
