Academy Award winning actress Hilary Swank has vowed to fight a $150 fine she had for bringing an apple and an orange into New Zealand without declaring it.
It is illegal to bring fruit into New Zealand because of the risk of bringing certain pests into the country that could damage New Zealand fruit crops.
'It's a pretty standard practice to issue an instant fine for a biosecurity risk,' Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry spokesman William Minchin told the Associated Press.
Swank, who has won two Oscars for best actress including this year's for 'Million Dollar Baby,' has instructed her lawyers to make a court appearance to contest the fine. Contesting the fine is common in New Zealand but rarely successful.
It appears New Zealand won't be the apple of Swank's eye anytime soon.
