The next big project for director Quentin Tarantino appears to be taking on Jason Voorhees, the masked slasher of the 'Friday the 13th' horror franchise. Tarantino is reportedly in serious negotiations to write and direct the 10th sequel to the 1980 slasher horror classic.
Negotiations between Tarantino and officials at New Line Cinema are scheduled for this week.
The most recent installment of the series was 'Freddy vs. Jason' which was released in 2003 and saw Jason take on 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' villain Freddie Krueger. It earned $82 million which has encouraged New Line to keep the franchise going.
Tarantino, who has a passion for martial arts movies and classic 'B' movies reportedly would welcome the challenge of writing and directing the next installment of the well-known and established series.
Tarantino has a thing for blood in his films. The two 'Kill Bill' films had a very high body count as did 'Pulp Fiction' and 'Reservoir Dogs.'
The deal has not been finalized yet. One spokesman for New Line Cinema told E! Online, 'It's premature at this point. It's just a meeting.'
