Actor Leonardo DiCaprio contacted the police shortly after being attacked by a woman with a beer bottle at a Hollywood Hills party Thursday night. The actor, best known for his roles in 'Titanic' and 'The Aviator,' required approximately a dozen stitches to close the wound.
Ken Sunshine, a spokesman for DiCaprio explained that the actor's attacker was not a guest at the party. 'Leo was attacked by a woman who was trespassing and had been repeatedly asked to leave the property,' Sunshine told reporters.
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) released a statement about the attack. 'The incident occurred during the early morning hours of June 17 when Mr. DiCaprio was attending a party at the home of a friend in Hollywood Hills,' the Los Angeles Police Department said in a statement.
'As a result of the assault, Mr. DiCaprio suffered a laceration to the left side of his neck, requiring several sutures. The investigation is ongoing and no one is in custody at this time.'
According to Sunshine, DiCaprio was in Los Angeles for the filming of his next project, 'The Departed' when the incident occurred. Published reports say that DiCaprio's injuries will not delay filming of the film.
