The superstar R&B group 'Destiny’s Child' announced that they will be breaking up after their North American tour this summer. After that, the destinies of Rowland, Beyonce Knowles and Michelle Williams will be as solo artists.
The three performers released a statement saying, 'After a lot of discussion and some deep soul searching, we realized that our current tour has given us the opportunity to leave Destiny's Child on a high note, united in our friendship and filled with an overwhelming gratitude for our music, our fans, and each other.'
Their label, Sony Urban/Columbia Records label said the trio 'would be retiring as Destiny's Child and moving forward to pursue personal goals and individual careers in music, theater, television and film.'
The final tour of the U.S. and Canada will begin in St. Louis on July 9 and conclude in Vancouver on September 10.
The final album by Destiny’s Child, aptly titled 'Destiny Fulfilled' has sold more than 2.7 million copies in the United States alone according to Nielson Soundscan.
The group had gone their separate ways once before. In December 2001, they each embarked on solo projects which included Beyonce’s turn as Foxxy Cleopatra in 'Austin Powers in Goldmember' and her successful solo album 'Dangerously In Love.'
